Population Dynamics Literature

Picture
The worldwide population grew nearly exponentially through the 20th century, growing to about 7.8 billion in 2020.

  • Growth rate has declined since about 1960, so that population growth is projected to slow, while continuing to grow to about 11 billion in 2100.   Estimates for future growth vary.

  • Some countries, due to concerns about an aging population distribution, are now again encouraging higher growth rates.
  •
  • Technical developments have aided the accommodation of the growing human population through more effective use of earth's resources.   Limits on what technology can support are not debatable though are not precisely known.   How many of us can the earth support?   Have we already exceeded some limits.
