About ARS - What is Responsible Sustainability
Advocates for Responsible Sustainability come together to develop sustainable ecosystems and industry sectors that will symbiotically lead to a sustainable future for the planet and humanity.
Responsible Sustainability recognizes that to have a future, humanity must work with and within the planets ecosystems to allow for both humanity and the planet to thrive. Advocates promote communication, research, and systems development that will lead to a Responsibly Sustainable future for both the planet and humanity

Are even environmentally conscience industries Responsibly Sustainable? As an example consider INDUSTRIAL FOREST PLANTATIONS. When properly managed, industrial forests can often grow more biomass than the industry consumes, providing forest products for timber, paper, packaging, chemical, and energy uses. They can support wildlife, provide recreation, fix carbon and they are relatively easy to maintain and harvest. But are they always Responsibly Sustainable?
Maybe, but probably not always. Wildlife diversity is reduced, ecosystems may be altered, and susceptibility to disease and fire are increased. But industry goals of ease of harvesting, renewable biomass, and product yields are improved. Can the forest products industry be part of a Responsibly Sustainable managed system, that works both for efficient industrial harvesting of the forest, while maintaining an active and vital forest ecosystem?. Almost certainly Yes with research and implementation. Development of Responsible Sustainability is the goal of ARS. It takes cooperation, research, and development of symbiotic relationships that provide a Responsibly Sustainable future for all industry, environmental relationships.
Sustainability is not always Responsible
Most multi-national companies have sustainability efforts and most modern governments have some focus on environmental protection. Yet, few if any human activities are on a fully sustainable path for either the industry or the environment. How can this be? Many factors, including population pressures, diverse and competitive industries, pressures on job creation, international and political issues, and rapid technical developments all impact the potential for achieving Responsible Sustainablity |
Why Advocates for Responsible Sustainability?
How is ARS different from the many fine organizations working to provide an environmentally sound planet, to Save the Earth? The Save the Earth Foundation was founded in 1972 as a consequence of Earth Day. Many other environmental organizations have followed and all are doing heroic work, focused on various aspects of ecosystem preservation. Many industry associations, government labs, and industrial concerns similarly work diligently to develop products, improve processes, and focus on sustainability of their products and activities. Often these organizations work at different ends of the problem spectrum. Sometimes they work cooperatively but often they work in silo's. ARS seeks to work with and to bring together these divergent groups, to work toward the common goals of ecosystem preservation and protection and support of humanity. People need products, need jobs, need opportunity. The Environment needs protection and opportunity to do what it does. We all need and hope for an abundant future. Working together, from the middle ground, is how we will get there and is the role of ARS. We need You to advocate, to demand, that we work together and get it done. |
History is the story of humanities experiences, growth, and exploitation of the planet. Follow some of the stories of those developments and exploitation. Add some or share where others exist. Let's learn from our history and use the experience to move forward, not to exploit, but to live into a Responsibly Sustainable future.
