the middle ground

Complex natural ecosystems, 7+ billion people living in myriad ways, multi-billion dollar industries, and advanced organizations and institutions, all come together to be the planet, humanity and life we know.  Natural ecosystems function through amazing interconnected relationships that have evolved over eons.  Humans have adapted into different cultures and societies to utilize the bounties from the earth, to live lives of abundance that take many forms.  Industries, organizations, and institutions have arisen to support both human needs, provide jobs and careers, and to understand and promote healthy relationships among these complex systems.   The perspective of most individuals is understandably to live as healthy and as abundant a life as possible. 

Industries, organizations, and institutions generally have a focus on specific elements of these complex systems, to either provide materials that support humanity, or to understand or protect, but also sometimes exploit earth's fragile ecosystems.   Organizations often support efforts to further develop their areas of focus, either development of needed materials or to protect the environment .  Less common are those organization that focus on all aspects of these complex relationships.   Unfortunately, too often there is not enough effort focused toward the middle ground;  the position that can lead to the symbiotic outcomes the environment, humanity, and business need.   Too often organizations focused on their specific needs do not work to find the Responsibly Sustainable path.  Fortunately, today, more effort is being made to understand both the needs of humanity and to maintain earths ecosystems, but far more needs to be done.   Advocates for Responsible Sustainability advocate for research and programs that will lead to both abundant human existence and stable and protected ecosystems.   Advocates work to bring the many elements together,  to work from the middle ground, that will lead to a responsible and sustainable future.  ARS provides the Forum and the Voice for all interested persons, technical, business, and those just hoping for a future for themselves and their families to come.

OUR GOAL

   Our Ecosystems are declining and disappearing.   How can we change that?  7+ Billion people share the planet and need support.  Few human activities are currently fully sustainable.  How do we best support mankind and the planet?  How do we provide a future: 50, 500, and 10,000 years out?

What does Advocating for Responsible Sustainability involve and what is unique about ARS?  Many organizations are stepping forward to promote Sustainable practices.  Some organizations offer certifications to industrial partners aiming for a sustainable path to their products and that is starting to impact the approach to sustainability for some industry players.

  Most of these organizations have been created through the efforts of scientists, engineers, lawyers, and policy makers, but not through the efforts of the common person.  So what role does ARS have?   ARS will bring both technical professionals and the persons who are being impacted, to work together toward a common goal.  ARS will provide both a Forum and a Voice.  Advocates will promote research and support programs to support humanity and preserve Earth's ecosystems.   ARS will work to provide the infrastructure and to provide access toward the data that supports Advocates in this effort.   Most importantly ARS and its Advocates will work to promote policy change to allow the Responsible Sustainability that will serve humanity both now and in the centuries to come.
